CONTROL OF SLUGS IN SUNFLOWER UNDER CONTROLED CONDITIONS

Glass pots of 30 x 40 x 30 cm were used, with 1/3 of land covered. Sunflower seeds were sown simulating a no-till system. A temperature of 20 °C ± 1 °C and 12 h of light were used. Five slugs (Deroceras reticulatum) of 400-600 mg were placed in each pot. A randomized complete block with factorial arrangement and 3 replications was used. A total of 10 treatments were tested: a control without bait application and 3 rates (3, 4 and 5 kg/ha) of Molluscicide ACAY and of other 2 baits. Control efficiency of each product at different rates was evaluated.

RESULTS

ACAY bait produced the best results at the three rates tested. The highest rate produced significantly better control than the others. The application of 5 kg/ha of Molluscicide ACAY controlled almost 80% of the slugs.
